Engineering

Our high standard of living is thanks on a great part to our engineers. Some examples illustrate this particularly well: instead of walking we can also travel by rail, car or aeroplane and thanks to mobile phones we can telephone from anywhere and everywhere. Civil Engineering and Architecture

Construction includes a wide spectrum of different professions and offers interesting possibilities for further education and specialisation. Students graduating as construction engineer or architect are capable of taking on challenging positions of great responsibility in construction, general construction planning, public administration or in the services sector. Multimedia Production

Students attending this course gain technical competency for a multi-media environment as well as language competencies and the capability of visualising content. Part of the education course involves producing content under realistic conditions in the especially created production facilities for media objects, following the Chur motto, "Study and produce". Curriculum Vitae:
Barbara Haller Rupf graduated in geography, economics, sports and education from the Universities of Zurich and Basel with master degrees. Between 1998 and 2005 she was engaged in different tourism research and consulting projects as well lecturing at the colleges (Höhere Fachschule) of Tourism in Samedan and Lucerne. As a lecturer she developed several education programs for college students and tourism companies.

After many years as a teacher and lecturer, from 2005 to 2012 she was vice principal at the secondary school in Aarau (Switzerland) and director of the technical college.

Her leadership experience was completed with an Executive Master of Business Administration FHO with focus on service management and a thesis about public relations of public schools in Canada and Switzerland.

Barbara Haller Rupf has been Director of Studies for further education and lecturer since May 2012. Since 2015, she is responsible for the research field “Intercultural aspects in tourism” at the Institute of Tourism and Leisure in applied research projects as well as in the study program Bachelor in Tourism. Furthermore, she is the director of studies in the joint program ‘International business – tourism and business management’, a co-operation between the Shanghai University of Engineering Science and HTW Chur
She lives with her family in Felsberg near Chur and beside her professional engagement she likes to go hiking in the mountains of Grison or to travel abroad.
