At a glance

The academic and practical contents covered in the Tourism Summer School allow you to expand your knowledge and skills in the areas of tourism and management.

The Tourism Summer School, which takes place during two summers, comprises two four-week segments that are held between the beginning of July and August at the HFT Graubünden in Samedan, Switzerland. Following the Summer School, you can join the third study year of the bachelor's degree course in Tourism at HTW Chur.

Admission requirements

Admission requirements

Students studying tourism and hotel management at a professional education and training (PET) college in Graubünden, graduates of other specialised PET colleges and individuals with a similar level of education abroad are admitted to the Tourism Summer School. They require B2 English knowledge.

Proficiency in mathematics

You should be proficient in terms, equations and functions, as these form the basis of the mathematics taught during the Tourism Summer School. This mathematics test will help you to assess whether your proficiency in mathematics is sufficient for this programme.

Your pathways for direct entry to HTW Chur

After successfully completing the Tourism Summer School, you will have the exclusive opportunity to join the bachelor's degree programme in tourism at HTW Chur. If you study on a full-time basis, you can acquire the Bachelor of Science FHO in Tourism in only one year. Should you decide to study on a part-time basis, the Bachelor of Science FHO in Tourism with Major in Service Design is awarded after three semesters.

Learn how to shape the experiences of tomorrow. The bachelor’s degree programme in Service Design focuses on the creation and optimisation of innovative services, taking account of state-of-the-art digital technologies and allows participants to study Tourism on a part-time basis.
Programme content

Programme content

You deepen your tourism-specific knowledge and learn how destinations, service companies and transport firms are successfully managed. You learn on the basis of real practical examples and excursions and directly apply your new knowledge in case studies.

The study programme comprises perfectly coordinated modules and builds on the content taught at PET colleges in the areas of tourism and hotel management. You also acquire specific specialist skills and deepen your knowledge during excursions and practical projects.

Duration of study programme

The Tourism Summer School, which takes place during two summers, comprises two four-week segments that are held between the beginning of July and August (calendar weeks 28 to 31) at the HFT Graubünden in Samedan, Switzerland.

Place of study

The Summer School is held in Samedan in the Upper Engadine on the campus of the Grisons College of Professional Education and Training in Tourism (HFT Graubünden).

Tuition fees

For students who have been resident in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein for at least two years prior to commencing their studies, the costs for the entire Tourism Summer School study period total CHF 1,260 (CHF 960 in tuition fees and an enrolment fee of CHF 300).

For all other students, the costs for the entire Tourism Summer School study period amount to CHF 1,850 (CHF 1,550 in tuition fees and an enrolment fee of CHF 300).

Teaching language

The teaching language is English.

 

Directive on the Coordinated Transition Process (KÜV)/Summer School

The Directive on the Coordinated Transition Process (KÜV)/Summer School governs admission requirements, examination and graduation procedures and the transition to the bachelor’s degree course. It is based on the Study and Examination Regulations of HTW Chur.

On the campus of HFT Graubünden, you can not only study, live and eat, but also experience the attractive sport and leisure activities of the Upper Engadine and the campus up close.

Leisure activities

During your free time you can go mountain biking, hiking, mountaineering or climbing and enjoy a range of different water sports. Why not relax in the breathtaking mountain setting, at the Upper Engadine's lakes, or take the time to discover the region's culture?

The campus in Samedan also offers you:

Accommodation and catering

During the Tourism Summer School, you can stay at the campus of HFT Graubünden in Samedan and take advantage of its attractive catering offers. Alternatively, you can also opt for different accommodation.

Multi-bed room with communal shower on a self-catering basis

Services included:
Use of the kitchen in the Chesa Granda for self-catering, daily cleaning of bathroom, weekly cleaning of room and changing of bedding.

Costs: CHF 340 (per module block of four weeks)

Single room with communal shower on a self-catering basis

Services included:
Use of the kitchen in the Chesa Granda for self-catering, daily cleaning of bathroom

Costs:

  • weekly cleaning of room and changing of bedding: CHF 690 (per module block of four weeks)
  • without hotel services: CHF 590 (per module block of four weeks)

Single room with bathroom on a self-catering basis

Services included:
Use of kitchen in the student dwellings for self-catering

Costs:

  • weekly cleaning of the room and bathroom as well as changing of bedding: CHF 790 (per module block of four weeks)
  • without hotel services: CHF 690 (per module block of four weeks)

Lunch

Lunch in the HFT Graubünden canteen on weekdays.

Costs: CHF 250 (per module block of four weeks)

If you would like to apply for the programme, please send your completed application form and the required documents to the administration team of HTW Chur.

 

Application deadline

The deadline for applications is 30 April in the year you commence your study course. Study places are limited. Applications will be considered in the order they are received.

Applications received after the application deadline may also be considered if there are still places available on the programme. Information will be provided by the Administration team.
