The academic and practical contents covered in the Summer School allow students and graduates of courses in tourism and hotel management at PET colleges to expand their knowledge and skills in the areas of tourism and management.
The Summer School, which takes place over two summers, comprises two four-week segments that are held between the start of July and the start of August at the Graubünden Advanced Training College for Tourism (HFT Graubünden) in Samedan. Following the Summer School, you can join the third study year of the bachelor's degree course in Tourism at HTW Chur.
Students studying tourism and hotel management at a PET college in Graubünden, graduates of other specialised PET colleges in Switzerland and individuals with a similar level of education abroad can be admitted to the Summer School. They require B2 English knowledge.
Proficiency in mathematics
You should be proficient in terms, equations and functions, as these form the basis of the mathematics taught during the Summer School. This mathematics test will help you to assess whether your proficiency in mathematics is sufficient for this programme.
Bachelor’s degree programmes after the Summer School
After successfully completing the Summer School, you will have the one-time opportunity to join the bachelor’s degree course at HTW Chur. If you study on a full-time basis, you can acquire the 'Bachelor of Science FHO in Tourism' in one year. Should you study on a part-time basis, the 'Bachelor of Science FHO in Tourism with Major in Service Design' is awarded after three semesters.

You deepen your tourism-specific knowledge and learn how destinations, service companies and transport firms are successfully managed. You learn on the basis of real practical examples and excursions and directly apply your new knowledge in case studies.
The study programme comprises perfectly coordinated modules and builds on the content taught at PET colleges in the areas of tourism and hotel management. You also acquire specific specialist skills and deepen your knowledge during excursions and practical projects.

Place of study
The Summer School is held in Samedan in the Upper Engadine on the campus of the Graubünden Advanced Training College for Tourism (HFT Graubünden).
For students who have been resident in Switzerland or the Principality of Liechtenstein for at least two years prior to commencing their studies, the costs for the entire Summer School study period total CHF 1260 (CHF 960 in tuition fees and an enrolment fee of CHF 300).
For all other students, the costs for the entire Summer School study period amount to CHF 1850 (CHF 1550 in tuition fees and an enrolment fee of CHF 300).
The teaching language is English.
Directive on the Coordinated Transition Process (KÜV)/Summer School
The Directive on the Coordinated Transition Process (KÜV)/Summer School governs admission requirements, examination and graduation procedures and the transition to the bachelor’s degree course. It is based on the Study and Examination Regulations of HTW Chur.
On the campus of the Graubünden Advanced Training College for Tourism (HFT Graubünden), you can learn, live and eat as well as experience the attractive sport and leisure offering of the Upper Engadine and the campus up close.
During your free time, you can go mountain biking, hiking, mountaineering or climbing and enjoy a range of different water sports. Why not relax in the midst of the breathtaking mountain setting and the Upper Engadine’s lakes or take the time to discover the region’s culture?

The following accommodation and catering offers are available to you at HFT Graubünden. Alternatively, you can also opt for different accommodation.

The deadline for applications is 30 April in the year you commence your study course. Study places are limited. Applications will be considered in the order they are received. Classes are made up of at least 15 people.
Applications received after the application deadline may also be considered if there are still places available on the programme. Information will be provided by the Administration team.
