University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur

The University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur is an innovative and entrepreneurial higher education institution with around 1,700 students. It trains people to become responsible and skilled professionals and managers. As a university of applied sciences with strong regional roots, HTW Chur attracts students from beyond the canton and even from outside Switzerland with its welcoming atmosphere. With its applied research, it contributes to the development of innovations, knowledge and solutions for society. HTW Chur offers a range of bachelor’s, master’s and further education programmes in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Digital Science, Management, Multimedia Production, Photonics, Technology and Tourism. It is also actively involved in applied research and development and provides consultancy and other services across all its disciplines. Institutional accreditation in accordance with the Federal Act on Funding and Coordination of the Swiss Higher Education Sector (HEdA) as well as the gaining of four stars as part of the “EFQM Recognised for Excellence” peer-assessment and certification under ISO 9001 and ISO 29990 provide an important basis for HTW Chur’s overall development. The innovative University of Applied Sciences of Graubünden has been part of the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland (FHO Ostschweiz) since 2000. The university’s history dates back to 1963 with the foundation of the “Abendtechnikum Chur”, a technical college offering evening courses. The University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur has been an independent legal entity under public law since 1 January 2006.

FHO University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland

The University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland is one of seven public universities of applied sciences in Switzerland and has around 6,000 students on foundation and further education courses. As a regionally based university of applied sciences with four legally independent university campuses, it makes an important contribution to the economic, technological and social development of Eastern Switzerland.

The FHO’s highest strategic body is the Council of the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland. Responsibility for the operational management of the FHO is assumed by Albin Reichlin, FHO Director, and the Rectors’ Conference.
