NEBIS library network
The HTW Chur Library is member of NEBIS, a network of libraries and information centers in Switzerland. Within the NEBIS loan network (consisting of about 60 NEBIS libraries) it is possible to order documents free of charge to our library.
For more information on loans see Library services
Bibliotheksplatz Chur is a cooperation between the following libraries in Chur:
- Bildungszentrum für Gesundheit und Soziales
- Cantonal Library Graubünden
- Graubünden University of Teacher Education
- Chur University of Theology
Our students can use these libraries for free. You need your student identification card and your NEBIS library card to register at the Cantonal library. Once you are registered there, you can order media from all the above libraries to be sent free of charge to the HTW Chur Library by bike courier.
Swiss University Consortium for electronic media
Thanks to a second network consisting of the Swiss Universities of Applied Sciences, our staff and students have access to more than 70 databases with thousands of electronic scientific magazines, book reviews, proceedings, studies, company information and press releases. We use Moodle, the open-source learning management system, to offer online support for searching literature, managing references and for the process of academic writing.

You need a user card. Register online for one in the NEBIS catalogue or contact the library team. Online registrations must be confirmed at the library counter. You will receive a free user ID after your registration has been confirmed.
Use the NEBIS network catalogue to search for media in the HTW Chur Library. If you are only looking for books from the HTW Chur Library stock, widen the search phrase with e27 or filter the hit list by library.
After searching the NEBIS network catalogue, select the title of the book that you would like to order in the results list, click on the “Locations & Order” tab and sign in with your NEBIS user data to reserve the book or order it for pickup at the HTW Chur Library (pickup location: FH-HTW-CHUR (Chur)). You will receive an e-mail as soon as the book is ready to be picked up.
Media of the Graubünden Cantonal library (KBG) is available online in the Graubünden Library network. Please note that you must first set up a user account in the KBG to do so. Students of HTW Chur can borrow media from the KBG for free. You can have books from the KBG sent free to HTW Chur by bike courier (pickup location HTW Chur Technology or HTW Chur Economics).
You need your user number (this is on your user ID) and your password.
Please select the pickup location FH-HTWCHUR (Chur). If this option is not available – courier.
Please note: if you select mail delivery, the book will be sent to your home address. You will be charged CHF 12 per book.
If the books are from the Central library, you must select Courier as the pickup place. If this option is not possible, please contact the library team, so that the appropriate adjustments can be made.
The standard loan period for text books is four weeks. After the first four weeks, the loan period will automatically be extended twice by a period of four weeks. Afterwards, you can extend your documents a further three times at the most online via your user account until the maximum loan period of twenty-four weeks has been reached. You can only extend the loan if there is no reservation.
Shortened loan periods are possible depending on the library and the type of media (e.g. DVDs, journals, etc.).
You can renew your loans in your library account in the NEBIS catalogue yourself. If the book has been earmarked by another user, you cannot renew it. You will receive a reminder by e-mail as soon as the loan period for a book has expired.
Either at the library counter (if it is staffed); otherwise, in the book return box labelled for this purpose at the respective entrance of each library location.
We are always interested in receiving procurement suggestions from our users. Just send us an e-mail with the following information:
- Book title
- NEBIS user number (not mandatory)
