- Can't find the book you're looking for? A team of specialist lecturers at HTW Chur helps us to select the required literature. However, we also rely on your tips. Please send us the item (Book or eBook title, author) or a link to where you have seen it online – together with your NEBIS user number. We will discuss your suggestion with our specialist lecturers and we will send you a reply.
The HTW Chur Library with its two locations, “Technology” and “Economics”, supports students and employees of the university of applied science by providing subject-specific information and advising its clientele. The library is also open to interested members of the public.

NEBIS library network
The HTW Chur Library is member of the NEBIS library network (network of libraries and information offices in Switzerland). This network enables all registered users to have media delivered free of charge to the HTW Chur from around 50 of a total of 140 libraries.

Bibliotheksplatz Chur is a cooperation between the following academic libraries in Chur:
- Bildungszentrum für Gesundheit und Soziales
- Cantonal Library Graubünden
- Graubünden University of Teacher Education
- Chur University of Theology
Students of HTW Chur can use these libraries for free. You need your student identification card and your NEBIS library card to register at the Cantonal library. Once you are registered there, you can order media from all the above libraries to be sent free of charge by bike courier to the HTW Chur Library.
Swiss University Consortium for Electronic Media
Thanks to a merger of the libraries of the Swiss universities of applied sciences as well as the University of Applied Sciences of Eastern Switzerland, staff and students have access to more than 70 subject databases, around 10,000 e-journals and around 35,000 e-books. «Books make me happy» is the motto of Karin Zindel. Almost every new book passes through her hands before it is made available in the online catalogue together with as much detailed and accurate information as possible.

Use the NEBIS network catalogue to search for media in the library. If you are only looking for books from the HTW Chur Library collection, widen the search phrase with e27 or filter the hit list by library.
How can I order or reserve library media?
After searching the NEBIS network catalogue, select the title of the book that you would like to order in the results list, click on the “Locations & order” tab and login with your NEBIS user data to reserve the book or order it for pickup at the HTW Chur Library (pickup location: FH-HTW-CHUR (Chur)). You will receive an e-mail as soon as the book is ready to be picked up.
How do I borrow media from the Graubünden Cantonal Library?
The media of the Graubünden Cantonal Library (KBG) can be viewed online via the Graubünden Library network. Please note that you must first set up a user account in the KBG to do so. Students of HTW Chur can borrow media from the KBG for free. You can have books from the KBG sent free of charge to HTW Chur by bike courier (pickup location: HTW Chur Technology or HTW Chur Economics).
How can I order books from the NEBIS network to HTW Chur?
You need your user number (this is on your user ID) and your password.
Please select the pickup location FH-HTW-CHUR (Chur) or, if this option is not available, order your book by courier.
Please note: if you select mail delivery, the book will be sent to your home address. You will be charged CHF 12 per book.
HTW Chur pickup location is not possible
If the books are from the Central library in Zurich, you must select “Courier” as the pickup location. If this option is not possible, please contact the library team so that the appropriate adjustments can be made.
What is the loan period?
The standard loan period for text books is four weeks. After the first four weeks, the loan period will be automatically extended twice by a period of four weeks. Afterwards, you can extend your documents a further three times at the most online via your user account until the maximum loan period of twenty-four weeks has been reached. You can only extend the loan if there is no other reservation.
Shortened loan periods are possible depending on the library and the type of media (e.g. DVDs, journals, etc.).
How can I renew my loans?
You can renew your loans in your library account in the NEBIS catalogue by yourself. If the book has been reserved by another user, the loan period cannot be extended. You will be notified by e-mail as soon as the loan period for a book has expired.
Where can I return my loans?
You can either return the book at the library counter (if it is staffed) or in the book return box labelled for this purpose at the respective entrance of each library location.
How can I suggest a new book to the library?
We are always interested in receiving suggestions for new books from our users. Just send us an e-mail with the following information:
- Book title
- NEBIS user number (not mandatory)
