Vision

Vision

In our last vision, which we turned into reality, we placed a focus on achieving national recognition as an innovative university. This ambitious objective was fulfilled upon gaining independence on 1 January 2020, when we were recognised as Switzerland’s eighth public university of applied sciences.
Building on this momentum, we will pursue the following newly defined vision over the coming years:

'As an agile university, we are boldly and sustainably helping to shape the future.'

Mission

Mission

The heart of our mission is based on the long-term fulfilment of our fourfold performance mandate. Working on our scientific basis, we consistently strive to meet the university profile of offering relevant application-oriented solutions. Building on this, the existing mission has been honed further in an evolutionary manner.

We have defined this understanding of mandate fulfilment in our refined mission:

'Our teaching and research are interdisciplinary and are geared towards practical challenges in business and society. Our research activities develop solutions for relevant problems. To further develop quality, we link teaching with application-oriented research and in doing so train our students to become highly qualified, responsible individuals. We are anchored in the region, significant in Switzerland and have an international appeal.'

Values

Values

Our decisions and actions are shaped by the following values and the guiding principle statements derived from them:

  • Respect
'We treat each other with respect and fairness and in doing so make use of the diversity of our university.'
  • Forward-looking approach
'We embrace changes and challenges openly and act in a forward-looking manner.'
  • Reflection
'We act reflectively and transparently and adopt a constructive attitude towards others and ourselves.'
  • Responsibility
'We act in an ethically responsible manner.'
