Institute at a glance

The Institute for Management and Further Education (IMW) offers further education programmes for employed managers. The management further education offering is aimed at middle and senior management figures with extensive practical experience.

In addition to the further training programmes, in-house seminars for companies as well as workshops and trend days are offered.

Expertise

Expertise

Alongside knowledge and expertise, the target group of employed managers is primarily seeking modern input on practical issues as well as diversity and topicality. In order to meet this requirement and structure our teaching activities in an interesting, up-to-date and practice-oriented manner, a bridge is built between practice and theory thanks to various partnerships, allowing us to keep in touch with the latest trends. With this transfer, we are able to ideally utilise external know-how and proven internal expertise in order to maintain the level of quality and innovation in our study programmes.

Wide-ranging areas of expertise and a differentiated information focus allow us to cover the different focus areas desired by the target group and meet its expectations. With a strategic, long-term focus and the knowledge of which areas of expertise are currently in demand among management figures as well as those that will be in future, our findings gained from the evaluation and interpretation of trends are used for the development of new study programmes and the revision of existing ones. With this “external scrutinisation”, we ensure that the content of the covered topics is always at the cutting-edge. The IMW wants to keep its finger on the pulse and miss neither trends nor relevant issues.

A further core competency of the IMW is the interactive conception of its study programmes. For example, students can visit companies at their premises and maintain direct contact with representatives from the realm of practice. The regular questioning of the status quo, direct feedback from the world of business and good cooperation with external experts mean that the practical relevance of the study programmes is assured and the quality of the further training is guaranteed.

Further education

Further education

The objective of our further education offering is to develop knowledge and tools in the field of business administration and management in a well-founded and practice-based manner. The study programmes teach selected subjects from the worlds of business administration and management and provide the basis for the successful assumption of middle and senior management positions.

The primary objective of the offered management further training programmes is the conveyance of the expertise required to answer management-related questions. For this reason, the training contents are geared towards the specific knowledge requirements of leaders and management figures in various sectors.

The basics in the area of business administration can be acquired with the Diploma of Advanced Studies in Business Administration (DAS). The Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) is offered for the fields of business administration and energy management. Seasoned managers with several years of practical management experience can gain an Executive MBA in General Management, Digital Transformation, Smart Marketing or New Business Development.

The practice-oriented study contents are different and vary depending on the selected further training programme: they primarily comprise case-specific company visits, intensive exchanges with experts from the world of practice, the use of our Service Innovation Lab in Chur, the handling of living cases as well as various study trips (to Berlin, San Francisco and Tel Aviv). The programmes’ practical relevance is rounded off by the drafting of a practice-based master’s thesis.
